Hello may fellow teachers, I am here again to write something as comment for our new grading system.
Last April 01, 2015 the Department of Education has released Deped Order No. 8 series of 2015 entitled “Policy Guidelines on Classroom Assessment for the K to 12 Basic Education Program.” And for the record this is to be implemented for School Year 2015-2016 as it is stated in paragraph 3 of the said Deped Order. This is a good news for everyone since all the queries that we have asked for the previous 3-years of implementation had already been answered. From the transmutation and the lowest possible grade that we can enter to the permanent school records to how are we going to handle the promotions and retention of learners. For me it is much clearer now and they have also added the proper way of assessing the learners needs.
well, like the usual task, I was here to give you my sample computerized grading system based from the memo, you may use it and modify it if you want… i am not using the lookup function instead i’m using the IF function in excel. This is for temporary use only, you can change the percentage base from your subject area.

But today, I will share you my prototype rubrics for my learners in K to 12, this can be use as a generic rubric for all types of activities you do in school. You can download it, print it, share it and use it for educational purpose only. I have made this such a way that it was close enough to the Department of Education order in grading learners.

hello folks, this is my past time and I have tried to show the comparison of the grades we compute usually.
the third sample is what I like most
I find it more student friendly though we can decide which one should we use.
sample 1 shows the scores of the students and most of us use it since it is easy.
sample 2 shows the equivalent percentage zero base which is average at the end.
sample 3 shows also the percentage but set the lowest grade to 65% and ready to be written in FORM 137 and FORM 138.
Which do you think should we use?
Which one is being discussed in the deped order no. 73 s. of 2012?

The K12 Educational System here in the Philippines is experimental. We can say that the teachers are the front liners in the implementation of the system. The government just give the deped orders and memos and leave the rest to the teachers. Even the computation of grades was not been told to teachers. This is the greatest crisis for me that we are facing. Since we don’t have a synchronize grading styles. The Deped Order no. 73 series of 2012 did not give the teachers the proper way to compute grades.
I have modified and created a student profile and call it K12 Student Score Sheet. Anyone can view and download it and modify or use it for your own class too.

One of the questions every public school teacher ask today is “how do I grade my learner?” This is what is being asked always in seminars and meetings in school, division, regions or even in national level. I’ve been asking why they don’t give us a training on how are we going to discriminate our learners through grades. They always told us to read the memo’s and the orders but as human we interpret differently what is written there.
What I am trying to say is that, why don’t they give teachers an exact DepEd Order about K to 12 grading system. Like for example in the previous curriculum, they have set the exact criteria, rubrics and how do they appear on class record. Whether you need to give the equivalent percentage of the learner every assessment or you just need to record the score and summed up at the end of the quarter.
I have read and studied the Deped Order No. 73, s. of 2012 and I even have question on what is the lowest grade? Is it “0”? Since the Beginning Level is equivalent to 74 and below. If that is the case, zero base, learners score need not to be transmuted and I doubted that without the proper care of giving grades to them will result to failure. But, there is no failure in K to 12 curriculum that’s why I was wondering why there is retention but in fact there is no retention in here. By applying the other Deped order about Bridging the Gaps of the students, there will be no student left behind.
Once I have computed the difference between the grades of learner using the past curriculum where the lowest grade to appear in form is 65 and there is a very big difference. I’m going to post it on my next article but for now I am confused since our division is using 70% as the lowest. I have a question, in a quiz of 10 items one of the student got 7 and the other one got 3. How are you going to give their percentage score? From the past system 3 is equal to 30% and 7 is equal to 70%, even until now since we are zero base. But if you follow this system I am talking about, this same students who earn a score of 3 and 7 will both have 70%.
I want to learn from other Public secondary school teacher out there. Please give a comment and let us have a discussion and sharing on what you are using right now. Thanks. Though I admit the fact since this is a new curriculum and still not perfect, maybe we can do something to give our students a fair judging.

Today is Saturday and I am not feeling well. I just went to computer shop to update my blogs. I absent from my physics class due to tonsillitis which makes my body feel aching all the time.
I Just update my other blog at blogger.com. My students in General Physics are directed there on what they need to finish. I want them to be trained in doing research and using computer since we are now in the 21st Century. As a 21st century teacher, we should teach our students the 21st century skills and computer literacy is one of those.
From previous time, I’ve been busy doing my research on how I will be able to make my teaching more accurately and fun to my learners. I am also figuring out a technique in which I can train a leader and not just workers. Also, I want my learner as a totally productive citizen of this country. Equating every possible values to the necessary acquired values they must have. Giving them advice at all times and giving them a choice every time. Most especially in studying and doing activities, I gave them the choice of doing or not but they must know the possible outcome of their decisions.
Another one I am up to is engaging myself in online marketing. I have read and researched all the possible ways to earn online and started them out last July 2013. I am hoping that this will materialize so I can share to my future learners so they can have alternative option of work since they are born in a computer generated era. Giving them this opportunity to be working in any time they want and supporting their basic need and training them to be a boss of themselves.
I am hoping that all of my plans will succeed in the future. This might give me a longer time to gain the result of my test but it doesn’t matter. What matter most is the good result that I wanted perfecting every bad result that I gain so that they will avoid it in the future. It cost me much enough time, money and effort but it’s worth is unpredictable in the near future.
